![]() ![]() This is why I never recommend quitting without a job or plan.Īlso, I’m sure a high % of teachers who wanted to be IDs wind up doing something else but often that’s because they didn’t really want to be IDs… It was just a thing they came across when they wanted to leave teaching. Any good role or job/company, you have to work to get and get lucky. But there’s no “easy field” guaranteed unless it sucks. Most teachers I know who really wanted to move into ID and did the work to do so have either been successful or I think will be, but it’s a matter of perseverance and changing tactics. Contracts can also be less competitive but they usually have crappy or no benefits (not always but the ones with good benefits and good rates are competitive). But it may be much easier to break into a local job, even hybrid will be easier than fully remote, much less competitive. I would say it depends on your skills and networking but I’m not worried about having to work in office ever again basically. I’ve only ever considered remote roles and I had multiple offers across industries. To the remote question, it’s a field with a lot of remote and hybrid work opportunities (including plenty of full time remote and contract remote) but no idea on “most”. Breaking through is the hardest part, but it will take lots of work and facing lots of rejection with no actual guarantee of success. ![]() and you will have to face rejection without any real “guarantee” of success (though I think most folks who actually want to do this job can break in eventually if they truly keep trying and work at it, it’s hardly impossible or even as hard as some make it seem on here-but the days where there was much less competition are over). You will need to build skills (how many/how much varies based on your prior skills and experience) and also build a portfolio probably, definitely deeply research the field, etc. I’ve seen it take a few months or years, in hot and cool markets.Įveryone’s story is different. The market is “cool” right now but I still know teachers who have landed a first ID job recently. Well, it’s wildly variable how hard or how long it will take (or if you can go directly vs. If links are abused (excessive/obvious promotion), then they will be disabled. ![]() Currently both self posts and links are allowed.
